The village of Estaing combines a landscape made up of plateaux, gorges, streams, waterfalls and lakes and an authentic heritage developed because it was on the Pilgrimage Route to Santiago de Compostela. It is no surprise that it is numbered amongst the Most Beautiful Villages of France.

This village, located in the north of the Aveyron department, at the entrance to the Lot Gorges and at an altitude of 320 metres, stands at the foot of the Aubrac Mountains. It has managed to preserve all of its riches. The château dating from the 11th and 18th centuries, the 15th-century church, the College and the bridge are all precious examples of Gothic architecture. After a walk through the narrow streets of the village, take time to explore the wealth of local gastronomic delights: tripous (sheep’s offal and feet), trout, cèpes, farçous (vegetable fritters), foie gras, stuffed ducks’ necks and confits, ewes’ cheeses, honey, and not forgetting Estaing wine! There’s something to suit all tastes! The same goes for activities. Choose from rambling, fishing, canyonning, rock-climbing, and mountain-biking; whether you go for extreme sports or something quieter you’ll be spoilt for choice.
