With its back to the tufa cliffs, Peyre is no ordinary village! Whether you are exploring its church in a cavern or the splendid view over the fabulous Millau bridge, you will find yourself amazed by all that it has to offer.

A walk through the stone-paved side streets, also known as calades, is a must so that you can appreciate the houses built out of tufa from the cliff and enjoy the view over the church of Saint-Christophe. The church, built in the 11th century and fortified in the 17th, is carved out of the rock of the cliff itself - a most unusual phenomenon! Since 2001, the church has been embellished with wonderful stained-glass windows the work of a Millau artist, Emmanuel Chauche. For the last few years Peyre has also been famous because it offers one of the best views over the Millau bridge. As you leave the village, go and stroll along the plateau that overlooks it. It provides a unique panoramic view over the Millau Viaduct and the Tarn.
