Conceived by the French engineer, Michel Virlogeux and designed by the English architect Lord Norman Foster, the Millau Viaduct was opened in 2004.

It is 2.5 km in length, 36 metres wide, and 343 metres high, the highest bridge in the world… What more can we say about this extraordinary project, which was completed in just 3 years? By crossing the Tarn valley to link with the A75 from Clermont-Ferrand to Béziers, it makes “La Méridienne” the shortest and most economical route between Paris and the Mediterranean. The viaduct is an architectural marvel that blends perfectly into the landscape of the Regional Natural Park of the Grands Causses.
A viewing area has been set up enabling visitors to have a unique panoramic view of the viaduct. This panoramic viewing area also serves as a Tourist Information Point.
